Arunachal Allocates Rs 150 Crore to Support Pension Schemes Under CMSSS

Northeast Desk, 12th July: The Arunachal Pradesh government has earmarked Rs 150 crore under the Chief Minister’s Social Security Scheme (CMSSS) to bolster various pension schemes aimed at supporting the state’s elderly, widows, and persons with disabilities.

According to the Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal Affairs (SJETA) minister, this substantial allocation is set to benefit a wide array of recipients. Under the Chief Minister’s Old Age Pension Schemes (CMOAPS), 64,096 individuals aged 60 to 79 and 3,450 individuals aged 80 and above will receive financial support. Additionally, 13,209 widows will benefit from the Chief Minister Widow Pension Schemes (WPS), underscoring the government’s dedication to inclusive welfare initiatives.

The scheme also provides for 6,120 persons with disabilities, who will receive financial aid through the Chief Minister Divyangjan Pension, reflecting the government’s commitment to assisting differently-abled individuals across the state.

For the financial year 2023-24, a total of Rs 1173.562 lakh has been allocated to beneficiaries, with an additional Rs 217.839 lakh set aside to clear outstanding dues from the previous fiscal year. Disbursements have already begun under Phase-I, with Rs 46,62,98,400 distributed across 12 districts. The remaining districts, including Namsai, East Siang, and Anjaw, will receive funds following the verification of beneficiary data.

This initiative represents a significant step towards enhancing social security and providing much-needed support to vulnerable groups within Arunachal Pradesh.
