Arrest of Bangladeshi Nationals and Indian Tout in Tripura
Northeast Desk, 12th July: In a recent development, Government Railway Police (GRP) and Border Security Force (BSF) have detained several individuals, including Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian tout, across two separate operations in Tripura.
Late on July 11, GRP personnel apprehended eight Bangladeshi nationals, including a minor boy, at Agartala Railway Station based on actionable intelligence. According to Officer-In-Charge Tapas Das, the detainees confessed to entering Tripura illegally and were en route to various destinations in India in search of work. Identified individuals include Ibrahim Hossain (24) from Kalaroa District, Safikul Islam (32) from Satkhira District, Musamed Salina Begam (22) with her son Samim Reze (5), Md. Shimul Hossain (28), Nur Nahar Juma (23), Taslima Kanum (24), and Meenu Khatun (19). The authorities are proceeding with further investigation and plan to seek police remand for interrogation.
Simultaneously, BSF personnel detained three Bangladeshi nationals at Sabroom Railway Station on the same day. During preliminary questioning, the detainees disclosed the involvement of an Indian tout, identified as Thaikai Mog (26), who was subsequently apprehended by BSF.
Both operations underscore the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to curb illegal immigration and trafficking activities in the region. The detained individuals will be processed through legal channels as investigations continue to uncover additional details surrounding their entry and activities in Tripura.
