Assam: Mangaldai Development Plans Gain Momentum with Land Allocations and Infrastructure Projects
Mangaldoi, 14th July: In a significant move towards advancing infrastructure development in Mangaldai, the Sub Divisional Land Advisory Committee (SDLAC), chaired by District Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey, has recommended key land allocations and strategic relocations.
During a special meeting, the committee approved the allocation of 146 bighas of land at Konwarpara village, Rangamati Mouza, for the establishment of a proposed Medical College. This decision underscores Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s commitment to enhance healthcare facilities in the region.
Additionally, the SDLAC proposed a 30 bighas plot at Konwarpara for the construction of a state-of-the-art Integrated District Commissioner’s office, aimed at decentralizing administrative functions and alleviating congestion in Mangaldai town. Another plot measuring 16 bighas at Pakabangipara village was earmarked for the construction of a new Circuit House, aimed at bolstering local administrative infrastructure.
Furthermore, the committee allocated 5 bighas of land near Mangaldai College for the construction of an ESI hospital, reinforcing healthcare accessibility within the district.
The meeting, attended by Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia and legislators Basanta Das, Dr. Paramananda Rajbongshi, and Majibar Rahman, along with civic body chairpersons and senior officials, also addressed urban congestion. Plans were initiated to relocate government offices from rented accommodations to abandoned school buildings, aiming to optimize space utilization and enhance operational efficiency.
Moreover, in a move to preserve the ecosystem, the committee resolved to evict encroachers from the banks of rivers Bega and Mora Nadi, facilitating their restoration.
This concerted effort signifies a crucial step forward in realizing long-standing promises of comprehensive development and infrastructure enhancement in Mangaldai.
