Meghalaya: South Shillong MLA Donates Salary to Support 76-Year-Old Runner for International Event

Northeast Desk, 17th July: South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai has generously donated his one-month salary to support Kmoin Wahlang, a 76-year-old long-distance runner from Meghalaya. Wahlang has been chosen to represent India at the 13th Pan Pacific Masters Games 2024 in Australia, set to take place from November 1-10, 2024.

Wahlang, who hails from Sngimawlein village in South West Khasi Hills, has participated in numerous long-distance running events across India, proudly representing Meghalaya. Shullai commended her as an inspiration for anyone aspiring to represent both the state and the country.

The MLA’s donation comprises Rs 1 lakh for Wahlang and Rs 30,000 for her coach, Biningstar Lyngkhoi. Shullai remarked that this gesture was part of his encouragement for Wahlang to continue striving for excellence and to bring honor to the state and the country at the Pan Pacific Masters Games 2024.

At a felicitation programme, Shullai expressed his unwavering support for Wahlang’s participation in the international event. He acknowledged that while they could not attend the Games in Australia, they extend their best wishes to Wahlang, hoping she will bring glory to Meghalaya and the nation.
