Assam Jal Jeevan Mission Achieves Milestone, Provides Clean Drinking Water to 80% of Rural Households

Guwahati, July 19, 2024: Assam Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah announced a significant achievement on July 19, revealing that the Assam Jal Jeevan Mission has successfully supplied clean drinking water through taps to 80% of rural households. Mallabaruah expressed pride and gratitude on social media, thanking Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his guidance and support.

The minister also acknowledged the dedication of the mission’s workers, whose efforts have been instrumental in realizing this vision.

However, despite this milestone, reports have emerged of failed drinking water projects in several areas, with allegations of corruption and sub-standard materials used in pipe installations. Rural areas continue to await supply water, casting a shadow on the mission’s overall success.
