Manipur: Execution-Style Killing of Man in Imphal East by Militant Group KCP (Progressive)

Northeast Desk, 21st July: A man identified as RK Prithibi Singh was brutally executed in the Tekcham area of Imphal East district on Saturday, according to police reports. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Lamlain police station.

Singh was found blindfolded and with his hands bound behind his back before being shot at point-blank range. The proscribed militant group KCP (Progressive) has claimed responsibility for the murder, accusing Singh of espionage on behalf of security forces. The group alleged that Singh, a former militant, had aligned with surrendered insurgents to spy for the authorities.

In a separate incident, police apprehended Ningthoujam Ashakumar Meetei, a militant from another faction of the KCP, KCP (Taibanganba), in Tejpur Makha Leikai, Kakching district. The 33-year-old was arrested for his alleged involvement in extortion activities, according to police sources.

The authorities are conducting thorough investigations into both incidents, aiming to address the rising militant activities in the region.
