Assam: Nalbari District Commissioner Varnali Deka Showcases Local Initiatives to Bangladeshi Delegation in New Delhi

Guwahati, 21st July: Varnali Deka, District Commissioner of Nalbari, Assam, delivered an insightful presentation to a delegation of senior Bangladeshi civil servants in New Delhi. This presentation was part of a capacity-building programme on public policy and good governance, organized by the National Centre for Good Governance.

During the event, which ran from July 15-20, Deka highlighted several local initiatives, including “Lakhpati Baideu” and “Aatma Nirbhar Nalbari.” She detailed innovative livelihood options for women’s self-help groups within Nalbari and across Assam, emphasizing the district’s commitment to empowering women through microfinance and self-reliance initiatives.

The programme was inaugurated by Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions. V. Srinivas, Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, also addressed the attendees, focusing on administrative reforms and grievance redressal mechanisms in India.

The Bangladeshi delegation, composed of officials with 16-21 years of experience, responded positively to Deka’s presentation, particularly appreciating the detailed discussion on microfinance options and innovative livelihood projects.

The event featured comprehensive discussions on scheme implementation and included an interaction with the Cabinet Secretary of India, providing the delegates with a holistic view of India’s public policy and governance strategies.

This programme underscored the importance of cross-border collaboration and knowledge exchange, aiming to enhance governance and public policy implementation in both nations.
