Assam Police Honors 26 Officers for Child Rights Protection at Sishu Mitra Awards
Guwahati, July 22 – In a ceremony held at the Assam Police Institute, 26 officers were recognized for their exemplary work in safeguarding child rights at the second annual Assam Police Sishu Mitra Awards. Director General of Police GP Singh presented the awards, highlighting the force’s commitment to creating a safer environment for children across the state.
Addressing the audience, DGP Singh reflected on the progress made since the inception of the Assam Police Shishu Mitra program five years ago. “We started the Assam Police Shishu Mitra Resource Centre last year, which has significantly improved our investigation of POCSO cases. The behavior of Assam Police has improved a lot,” Singh noted.
The ceremony also honored the Superintendent of GMCH, the Nodal Officer for the SC/ST (PoA) Act, and the Special Public Prosecutor for the Kamrup (M) Special POCSO Court with Special Recognition for their contributions to advancing children’s rights.
