Abu Metha Nominated as Delegate for Paris Olympics 2024

Northeast Desk, 22nd July: Abu Metha, Associate Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), has been officially nominated as a delegate for the Paris Olympic Games 2024. The AFI announced the nomination on July 9, 2024, in a letter to Metha.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio publicly congratulated Metha via social media, noting the significance of this appointment for sports development in India, especially in Nagaland. Rio expressed appreciation for the AFI’s recognition of Metha’s contributions to athletics.

The Paris Olympics are set to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. In his role as a delegate, Metha will represent India’s athletics interests on the global stage.

This nomination is seen as a notable achievement for Nagaland, marking an important milestone for the northeastern state in the realm of international sports. It also reflects the increasing acknowledgment of sports administrators from India’s northeastern region in the broader sporting community.
