Meghalaya: Shillong College Marks Diamond Jubilee with National Workshop on NEP 2020
Northeast Desk, 24th July: Shillong College celebrated its Diamond Jubilee on July 23, concluding a yearlong observance of six decades of science education. The milestone was marked by a two-day National Workshop centered on integrating SWAYAM and credit transfer systems in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Sniawbhalang Dhar, served as the chief guest at the event. Dhar highlighted the significance of technological advancements in education, emphasizing the SWAYAM portal’s role in enhancing digital skills among students and educators. “The state government is dedicated to fostering opportunities for young minds and enterprises,” he said, referencing initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s e-Champion Challenge. Dhar encouraged students to view challenges as opportunities for growth and to remain committed to their educational goals.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, who was the guest of honour, addressed the pressing issue of youth unemployment. She outlined government efforts aimed at providing support and benefits to educated but unemployed youth across the country.
The workshop, organized by the college’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), delved into the theme “Integration and Use of SWAYAM and Credit Transfer in the Context of NEP 2020,” reflecting the national educational reforms introduced by the NEP 2020.
