Manipur Police Arrest Five Militants from UNLF (P) and KCP (TAIBANGNGANBA) in Separate Operations

Northeast Desk, 28th July: Manipur Police have arrested five militants in two separate operations targeting the underground outfit UNLF (P) and the proscribed group KCP (TAIBANGNGANBA).

On July 26, four members of the UNLF (P) were apprehended from Chingmeirong in Imphal West District. The suspects, identified as Thounaojam Gopen Singh (34), Naorem Ningthouremba (25), Arambam Tom Meitei (35), and Laishram Doshnikumar (28), are accused of involvement in a firing incident, assaulting civilians, and outraging the modesty of a woman. They have been remanded into police custody for eight days for further investigation.

In a separate incident on July 27, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of the KCP (TAIBANGNGANBA) from Tejpur IVR in Kakching District. The individual, identified as Heikrujam Somorjit Singh, also known as Ningthou (30), is alleged to have engaged in extortion activities targeting the general public.

The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb the activities of militant groups in the region. Further investigations are underway to uncover more details about the suspects’ involvement in criminal activities.
