Lt Gen PC Nair Praises Assam Rifles for Exceptional Service and Dedication at Commendation Ceremony

Guwahati, July 29, 2024 At a recent commendation ceremony, Lt Gen PC Nair, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, PhD, Director General of Assam Rifles, celebrated the exceptional service and unwavering dedication of the Assam Rifles personnel. Addressing the officers and troops, Lt Gen Nair emphasized the crucial role of the force in maintaining security in the North East and Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting their significant contributions to national development.

Lt Gen Nair lauded the Assam Rifles for their professionalism in tackling complex security challenges and their steadfast resolve in safeguarding national borders. He recognized the force’s efforts in Manipur, commending them for their resilience despite facing misleading propaganda from various groups. The Director General praised the troops for their commitment to upholding the nation’s sovereignty and integrity with exceptional leadership and selfless devotion.

In his address, Lt Gen Nair also underscored the importance of supporting veterans and their families. He announced the institution of Veterans Day on March 23 each year to honor the bravery and sacrifices of the veterans. Reflecting on his tenure, he expressed deep appreciation for the enthusiasm and dedication of all ranks in achieving greater success for the force.

Looking ahead, Lt Gen Nair extended his best wishes to Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, who will succeed him. He expressed confidence that Gen Lakhera’s extensive experience in the North East will further benefit the Assam Rifles.

As Lt Gen PC Nair prepares to retire on July 31, 2024, he concludes a distinguished 38-year military career, having served as the Director General of Assam Rifles for the past three years.
