Nagaland: Konyak Union Raises Alarm Over Threats to Contractor and Calls for Peaceful Resolution
Northeast Desk, 1st August: The Konyak Union (KU) has expressed grave concerns over recent threats made by the NSCN-K (Khango) against contractor Rülho, who is involved in road and infrastructure projects in Mon district and beyond. The union has also addressed the Angami Youth Organisation’s (AYO) resolution for non-cooperation with NSCN-K (Khango).
In a statement, KU President Tingthok Konyak and Assistant General Secretary Chingyem Kony AK reported that Rülho has been threatened with capital punishment by the NSCN-K (Khango). The KU, known for its support of local contractors and its efforts to ensure their safety, has condemned such threats and emphasized its commitment to resolving disputes through constructive dialogue.
The KU urged both the NSCN-K (Khango) and the AYO to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict without escalating tensions. The union criticized actions that impede development and called for a resolution of the dispute that does not frame it as a tribal issue. The KU advocates for respectful and non-threatening methods to address conflicts, highlighting its dedication to fostering peace and development within its jurisdiction.
