Tripura Police Seize Narcotics Worth Rs 2.50 Crore, Arrest One in Major Drug Bust

Northeast Desk, 11th August: In a significant operation, Tripura Police seized narcotics valued at over Rs 2.50 crore from Ambassa Subdivision in Dhalai District, resulting in the arrest of one individual. The operation marks a major success in the state’s ongoing efforts under the Nasha Mukt Tripura Abhiyan.

Dhalai District Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai detailed the successful bust, highlighting that the seizure was made following a directive from Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha. Acting on precise intelligence, officers from Ambassa Police Station intercepted a Bolero vehicle bearing registration number TR01F2938. The vehicle, which was en route to Agartala from Manu in Dhalai District, was apprehended after a significant chase through the Chamalcharra area.

Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered 80,000 Yaba tablets and 539 grams of brown sugar, hidden within the door panel and backlight of the vehicle. “The drugs seized hold an international market value of approximately Rs 2.50 crore,” SP Rai stated, noting that all legal protocols were observed during the operation. The contraband was confiscated, and a specific case has been registered under the NDPS Act, with further investigation ongoing.
