Manipur Police Intensify Anti-Drug Awareness Efforts with Statewide Campaigns
Northeast Desk, 11th August: In a determined effort to curb the growing drug menace, the Manipur Police have launched a series of awareness programmes under the “Vision for Drug-Free India Campaign” across various parts of the state. These initiatives aim to educate the public, particularly the youth, about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of a drug-free society.
On August 9, a one-day drug awareness programme was held at New Era Higher Secondary School in Thoubal. The event saw the participation of around 700 students and teaching staff, reflecting the community’s commitment to tackling this pressing issue.
In tandem with these educational efforts, the police organized a series of poster campaigns aimed at spreading awareness against drug use. On August 9, these campaigns were conducted at key locations including Lamlong Bazar, Khurai Thangjam Leikai, Porompat Pangal Leirak, and Wangkhei Ayangpali area.
Earlier, on August 7, another poster campaign took place at Singjamei Chingamakha, Heirangoithong Bazar, Manipur College, and Ningthemcha Karong area. The same day, the police also conducted a one-day awareness programme at the Korou Foundation rehabilitation center in Langol, Imphal West, underscoring their focus on both prevention and rehabilitation.
The anti-drug campaign continued on August 6 with posters displayed at Keishampat Junction, Wahengbam Leikai, Tamenglong Sumo parking, and Naoremthong area. A similar drive was organized on August 5 at Khongnang Ani Karak, ISBT Khuman Lampak, Hatta, Lamlong Keithel, and NRL Pump Telipati.
The campaign kicked off on August 3 with a poster initiative at prominent locations including Paona Bazar, Ima Keithel, and North AOC, setting the tone for a sustained and widespread effort to combat drug abuse in Manipur.
Through these awareness programmes and poster campaigns, the Manipur Police aim to foster a community-wide movement towards a drug-free state, reinforcing the message that combating drug abuse requires collective action and vigilance.
