Nagaland: NSCN (Niki) Enforces Strict Prohibition on Underage Employment and Entry in Dimapur’s Nightlife Venues
Northeast, August 18, 2024 — The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) has issued a firm directive to all nightclubs, bars, lounges, and alcohol-serving restaurants in Dimapur, strictly banning the employment and entry of individuals under the age of 18. The new regulation, effective immediately, comes in response to reports of minors being exploited under the guise of employment.
In a statement released by the group’s Media and Information Bureau (MIP), the NSCN (Niki) highlighted its concern over the presence of minors in these establishments, stressing that such environments are harmful to their well-being and the moral fabric of the community. The group condemned the local venues’ disregard for global standards that prevent underage access to such spaces.
The directive mandates that any establishment found in violation—whether by employing underage workers or allowing minors as customers—will face strict penalties. The NSCN (Niki) has also warned that they will conduct thorough inspections of these venues to ensure compliance. Any minors found on the premises will be detained until their parents intervene and sign a bond for their release.
This move is seen as part of a broader effort by the NSCN (Niki) to protect vulnerable young people from exploitation and to uphold ethical standards in the community. The group’s strong stance on the issue sends a clear message to the nightlife industry in Dimapur to prioritize the safety and well-being of minors.
