Three Escaped Inmates from Namsai Jail Recaptured; One Still at Large
In a significant breakthrough, Namsai police have successfully apprehended three of the four inmates who escaped from Namsai jail earlier this month. The arrests, made late last night, followed an intensive search operation that spanned several days.
Among those captured are Mineswar Dihingia, a commander with the NSCN (U) group, Arjun Kanda, and Robin Surin. Dihingia was apprehended in Lekang Gohain village, while Kanda and Surin were located in Piyong Kachari village.
However, one escapee remains at large. Gopal Munda, who was imprisoned under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, has so far managed to evade capture. Authorities have ramped up their efforts to locate Munda and return him to custody.
The jailbreak occurred on the night of August 17, sparking a broad-scale manhunt for the four criminals, who included Kanda, Munda, Surin, and Dihingia. The successful recapture of three of the escapees marks a major step forward in the ongoing operation, though the search for Munda continues.
