Central Government Boosts Relief Efforts as Flooding Devastates Tripura

Northeast Desk, 22nd August: As devastating floods continue to wreak havoc in Tripura, the central government has intensified its relief operations to support the northeastern state. Torrential rains since August 19 have led to the loss of 10 lives and displaced over 34,000 residents, forcing them into relief camps.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced via social media that the central government is dispatching additional National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, along with boats and helicopters, to assist in ongoing rescue efforts. “The Modi government firmly stands with our sisters and brothers in Tripura during this hour of crisis,” Shah affirmed after a conversation with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha.

Chief Minister Saha confirmed that eleven NDRF teams from neighboring states, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, are on their way to Tripura. He also mentioned that helicopters will be deployed to airlift residents stranded in flood-hit areas.

“The entire State Government machinery has been working tirelessly to address this unprecedented natural disaster,” Saha stated, expressing his gratitude to public representatives, social workers, and citizens for their cooperation during this critical time.
