Meghalaya: Union Minister Raj Bhushan Choudhary Visits South West Khasi Hills
Northeast Desk, 23rd August: Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Raj Bhushan Choudhary, visited the South West Khasi Hills District in Meghalaya, emphasizing the central government’s dedication to the development of the Northeastern region. Choudhary underscored Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focused efforts to advance the Northeastern states.
During his visit, the Minister inspected several centrally sponsored projects, including a hydrometeorological station, irrigation initiatives, and environmental programs. He conducted a thorough review of the progress of various schemes, meeting with district officials and representatives from relevant departments to assess the effectiveness of these initiatives.
Choudhary’s visit was part of a broader effort to evaluate Meghalaya’s development in comparison to other states. He interacted with beneficiaries of central programs like the Jal Jeevan Mission, encouraging officials to ensure that all eligible residents receive the benefits they are entitled to under these welfare schemes.
Additionally, the Minister visited Mawten and Nonglang Village to check on the progress of the Greater Mawkyrwat and Nonglang Water Supply Schemes. Local officials provided detailed reports on both the successes and challenges faced in implementing various schemes across sectors such as rural development, child welfare, public health, employment generation, and education.
This visit reaffirms the central government’s commitment to the holistic development of Meghalaya and the Northeast region, focusing on enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
