Manipur CM Reveals Key Visit by Army Chief Aimed at Restoring Peace in the State
Northeast, August 24 — Chief Minister N Biren Singh has disclosed that the primary objective of the recent visit by Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, to Manipur is to expedite the restoration of peace in the conflict-stricken state.
Speaking at a press conference held today at his secretariat, CM Biren Singh shared that General Dwivedi, accompanied by Lieutenant General RC Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, and Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding 3 Corps, visited Manipur with a focus on achieving early peace. A crucial meeting was held with these senior officers, along with Major General Ravroop Singh, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), at the secretariat yesterday.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the central government is treating the Manipur conflict with the utmost seriousness. He also revealed that he had provided the visiting military officials with essential documents, including maps of Manipur, to aid in their efforts.
There is optimism that following their return to Delhi, significant and positive actions may be taken to address the situation.
Addressing questions regarding the progress of the state’s railway project, CM Biren Singh mentioned that he had recently apprised the Railway Minister in Delhi of the urgent need to expedite the project. He noted that construction had been halted due to a landslide in the Noney area and some unresolved issues. However, the state government is committed to resolving these challenges and will work diligently to ensure the project’s completion.
