Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Criticizes Congress for “Double Standards” on Caste Census

Guwahati, August 26, 2024: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused the Congress party of “double standards” concerning the caste census. Sarma highlighted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already conducted a caste census in Bihar and supports the initiative, while Congress has been inconsistent.

  • BJP’s Commitment: Sarma emphasized that the BJP has demonstrated its commitment by carrying out a caste census in Bihar and supporting it to ensure justice for SCs, STs, and OBCs.
  • Congress’ Stance: He criticized Congress for not releasing data from a similar exercise conducted in Karnataka and for not participating in crucial meetings on the caste census.

Sarma reiterated the BJP’s unwavering support for the caste census and justice for marginalized communities.
