Assam: Kokrajhar District Magistrate Imposes Prohibitory Order to Maintain Peace and Security
Guwahati, 27th August: In an effort to preserve peace and public order, Kokrajhar District Magistrate Pradeep Kr Dwivedi has issued an urgent prohibitory order under Section 163 BNSS. The order, which took immediate effect, applies across the entire district and aims to prevent any potential disturbances while ensuring the smooth functioning of daily life.
The order prohibits various activities without prior permission from the authorities, including processions, demonstrations, and blockades on National Highways. It also restricts unauthorized entry or crowding within 100 meters of the District Commissioner’s office and prohibits the assembly of five or more persons in public places, including National Highways, without official approval.
Additional prohibitions include the organization of public meetings, rallies, or demonstrations in public areas without permission, as well as financial collections, forceful subscriptions, and extortion from individuals, businesses, or offices. The carrying or display of weapons, including arms, lathis, sharp instruments, and other lethal items, is also strictly forbidden.
The use of loudspeakers without authorization, the gherao of any person, office premises, or godowns, and the writing or posting of posters on government buildings, walls, or roads are all included in the prohibitions.
The order exempts Executive Magistrates, police officials, paramilitary forces on duty, and individuals with valid tickets at railway stations, bus stations, and tempo stands. The order will remain in force until further notice, with violators facing prosecution under relevant legal provisions.
This action by the District Magistrate is intended to safeguard the peace and security of Kokrajhar district, ensuring a stable and peaceful environment for all residents.
