Assam: Forest Guard Killed by Tiger in Orang National Park
Guwahati, 29th August: Dhonmoni Deka, a forest guard from Nagao-Hatimara in Sipajhar, was tragically killed by a tiger while patrolling alone in Orang National Park. The incident occurred on August 26. Deka, who had been recently married just six months ago, was found alone during the attack.
This incident follows a previous tragic event in April 2024, where three people, including two forest guards, were killed and another injured in a wild elephant attack in Assam’s Sonitpur district. The elephant had strayed into Dhirai Majuli village from the Dhekiajuli forest, causing the deaths of forest guards Koleswar Boro and Biren Rava, along with local resident Jatin Tanti. The injured person was a forest employee.
