AIUDF Demands Security for Muslims in Assam Amid Threats
Guwahati, 29th August: On Thursday, August 29, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) submitted a memorandum to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, requesting enhanced security measures for the Muslim community in the state. This action follows a previous appeal to Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, urging the government to address threats issued by certain organizations against Muslims in Upper Assam districts.
In their memorandum to the Governor, the AIUDF highlighted that “unknown organisations and fundamentalist groups” have publicly threatened a segment of the Muslim community, demanding their immediate departure from Upper Assam or facing severe consequences. The party condemned these statements as a serious threat to communal harmony and the safety of the community in the region.
The AIUDF’s call for security underscores growing concerns over communal tensions and the need for government intervention to ensure the protection of vulnerable communities.
