Manipur CM N Biren Singh Praises Indian Footballer Elangbam Panthoi Chanu and Weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu

Northeast Desk, 29th August: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday, August 29 honored Indian footballer Elangbam Panthoi Chanu at his Secretariat. Chanu, a renowned goalkeeper for Metro United WFC and the India women’s football team, was praised by Singh for her exceptional skill and dedication to the sport.

Chief Minister Singh lauded Chanu’s contributions, stating, “Her dedication and exceptional skills as a goalkeeper are truly commendable. I extend my best wishes to her for continued success and achievements in her future endeavors.” He emphasized Chanu’s role as an inspiration for aspiring athletes in the region.

Earlier, on August 11, Singh had also met with weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu at his Secretariat. He congratulated Chanu on her remarkable performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, sharing his pride in her achievements. On X (formerly Twitter), Singh wrote, “It was an honor to meet Ms. Saikhom Mirabai Chanu. We are immensely proud of her accomplishments and inspired by her dedication to weightlifting.”
