Meghalaya BSF Seizes Rs 10 Lakh Eyewear in Foiled Smuggling Attempt on India-Bangladesh Border

Northeast Desk, 29th August: Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on August 28 from the 193 Battalion thwarted a smuggling attempt on the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district. During the operation, the troops seized eyewear valued at Rs 10 lakhs.

The alert personnel detected suspicious activity as smugglers attempted to transport the contraband into Bangladesh. Upon being confronted, the smugglers fled, utilizing the rugged terrain and darkness to evade capture.

The confiscated items have been handed over to the customs office for further investigation and legal proceedings. The successful operation highlights the BSF’s vigilance and effectiveness in curbing cross-border smuggling activities.
