Indian Army Celebrates National Sports Day with Grassroots Sports Event in Manipur

Northeast Desk, 30th August: The Indian Army’s Red Shield Division celebrated National Sports Day with a vibrant sports event in Khurkul Village, Imphal West, as part of Operation Sadhbhavana. The initiative aimed to boost grassroots sports and support the Khelo India and Fit India Movements.

The event featured a thrilling men’s volleyball match between Sardar Patel High School and Khurkul Model Standard School. The girls also demonstrated their athletic prowess in a spirited badminton contest. Adding to the day’s excitement, a friendly volleyball match was held between the Indian Army team and the local Khurkul village team, fostering community spirit.

In addition to the matches, the Indian Army recognized the participants, organizers, and winners for their remarkable performances. A significant highlight was the distribution of sports gear to the villagers, which was met with enthusiastic applause and is expected to greatly improve the village’s sports infrastructure. The event not only celebrated sportsmanship but also strengthened ties between the Indian Army and the local community.
