Mizoram: Assam Rifles and CID Seize Methamphetamine Worth Rs 33.33 Crore in Aizawl

Northeast Desk, 30th August: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Special Narcotics Police Station, CID (Crime) Aizawl, seized 1,00,000 Methamphetamine tablets in Aizawl’s Bawngkawn Shalom Veng locality.

The consignment, weighing 9.726 kg and valued at approximately Rs 33.33 crore in the illegal market, was intercepted during a meticulously planned operation. Four individuals were apprehended in connection with the haul and have been handed over to the Special Narcotics Police Station, CID (Crime), Mizoram, for further investigation and legal proceedings.

This operation underscores the growing challenge of drug smuggling in Mizoram and the broader region. Assam Rifles, often referred to as the “Sentinels of the Northeast,” have intensified their efforts against illegal drug trafficking, with a particular focus on dismantling the networks operated by major drug racketeers in the state.

The successful seizure highlights the ongoing battle against narcotics in the region, where the flow of illegal substances continues to pose a significant threat to public safety and national security.
