Arunachal Pradesh Launches 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah with Tree Planting and Focus on Nutrition
Northeast Desk, August 31, 2024 — The 7th edition of Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month) was launched with a tree-planting ceremony in Arunachal Pradesh, led by Women and Child Development Minister Dasanglu Pul. This year’s theme, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” highlights a dual commitment to environmental sustainability and nurturing future generations.
Minister Dasanglu Pul, the sole woman minister in Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s cabinet, inaugurated the event, accompanied by key dignitaries including Advisor Tsering Lhamu, Secretary Mimum Tayeng, and Director T.P. Loyi. In her speech, Pul reaffirmed the government’s dedication to combating malnutrition and credited the Ministry of Women and Child Development’s efforts in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a malnutrition-free India.
The event featured a large-scale plantation drive, reflecting a collective dedication to environmental preservation and the well-being of future generations.
Rashtriya Poshan Maah is a key initiative of the POSHAN Abhiyaan, the Government of India’s flagship scheme for holistic nutrition. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the program aims to improve the nutritional status of pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and young children through a comprehensive approach.
As part of the 15th Financial Commission’s initiatives, POSHAN Abhiyaan has been integrated with the Anganwadi Services Scheme and the Scheme for Adolescent Girls under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0. This integration is designed to enhance nutrition support, outreach, and program effectiveness.
Throughout September 2024, Rashtriya Poshan Maah will focus on a life-cycle approach to nutrition, emphasizing the importance of nutrition at every stage of human development. The theme “Suposhit Bharat, Sakshar Bharat, Sashakt Bharat” (Nutrition-rich India, Educated India, Empowered India) aims to raise awareness and promote a healthier, more informed, and empowered nation.
