Karimganj, September 1, 2024 — In a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, the Assam police seized 10,000 Yaba tablets during an anti-narcotics operation in Chargola Bazar, Karimganj. Acting on credible intelligence, the Karimganj police conducted a search operation that led to the apprehension of an individual found in possession of the illegal drugs.
The arrested suspect has been placed in police custody, and an investigation is currently underway to uncover further details about the drug network involved.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to the microblogging site X to commend the police officials for their relentless efforts toward achieving a drug-free state.
This seizure is part of a broader crackdown on narcotics in Assam. In a similar operation in August, the Assam police arrested another individual in possession of 20,000 Yaba tablets in Dengarbond. These operations underscore Assam Police’s ongoing commitment to eradicating drug trafficking in the state.
