Assam Government Launches 10-Day Healthcare Camp to Screen Children for Heart and Blood Disorders

Guwahati, 1st September: The Assam government has launched a 10-day healthcare camp starting September 1, aimed at identifying children suffering from heart and blood-related illnesses across the state. The initiative, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, is part of the government’s broader effort to ensure the health and well-being of every child in Assam.

The camp will provide comprehensive healthcare support, including referral services to designated hospitals for children requiring advanced medical care. The initiative specifically targets children aged 0-14 years suffering from conditions such as leukemia, thalassemia, and other rare blood diseases. Additionally, children aged 0-18 years with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) will also receive specialized attention.

Chief Minister Sarma took to social media to encourage parents to bring their children to the nearest screening camps, emphasizing the government’s commitment to safeguarding children’s health. “From 1-10 September, we are organizing special camps to identify children with heart & blood-related illness and chalk out their treatment plan,” he wrote on X.

The healthcare camps will be held at various medical centers across Assam, covering all major districts. Below is the schedule for the screening camps:

  • September 1: GMCH, Guwahati (Kamrup Metro, Kamrup)
  • September 2: NMCH, Nalbari (Nalbari, Baksa)
  • September 3: FAAMCH, Barpeta (Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Bajali) and DMCH, Dhubri (Dhubri, South Salmara-Mankachar, Goalpara)
  • September 4: KMCH, Kokrajhar (Kokrajhar, Chirang)
  • September 5: NMCH, Nagaon (Nagaon, Morigaon, Hojai) and TMCH, Tezpur (Sonitpur, Darrang, Biswanath, Udalguri)
  • September 6: JMCH, Jorhat (Jorhat, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Majuli)
  • September 7: LMCH, Lakhimpur (Dhemaji, Lakhimpur) and AMCH, Dibrugarh (Dibrugarh, Charaideo)
  • September 8: TMCH, Tinsukia (Tinsukia)
  • September 9: SMCH, Silchar (Hailakandi, Karimganj, Cachar)
  • September 10: DMCH, Diphu (Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong)

This initiative reflects Assam’s commitment to tackling critical health issues among children and ensuring they receive the necessary medical care to lead healthy lives.
