Tripura: BSF Arrests Five Bangladeshi Nationals for Border Infiltration
Northeast Desk, 1st September: The Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura arrested five Bangladeshi nationals on August 31, during a coordinated operation aimed at preventing illegal border crossings. The arrests took place near the Border Out Post (BOP) Rangichera, following a tip-off about an attempt to breach the India-Bangladesh border.
The BSF apprehended three individuals, including a male, a female, and a girl child, as they were attempting to negotiate the border fence around 2:10 pm. During the initial questioning, the detainees disclosed that two of their associates had already crossed the border and were heading towards Bagicherra village.
Acting swiftly on this information, BSF personnel, in collaboration with Tripura police, launched a search operation, resulting in the arrest of the two additional Bangladeshi nationals and one tout. All the arrested individuals were identified as residents of Molvibazar in Sylhet, Bangladesh, and are members of the same family.
Further investigations revealed that the tout, who had been working as a carpenter in Halhalli, is also a Bangladeshi national from Hingjiya Chai Bagan, Molvibazar, Sylhet.
In light of this incident, the BSF has reiterated its commitment to intensifying anti-infiltration measures along the India-Bangladesh border to curb illegal entries. The force has been strengthening its operations and infrastructure to ensure tighter border security.
The arrested individuals are currently under investigation, and authorities are working to uncover any further connections related to this infiltration attempt.
