BSF and Meghalaya Police Nab Suspected Bangladeshi Human Trafficker Near Indo-Bangla Border

Northeast Desk, 2nd September: In a joint operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Meghalaya police apprehended a suspected Bangladeshi human trafficker near the Indo-Bangladesh border in East Khasi Hills district. The suspect, identified as Md Mijan Mia, 49, was captured based on specific intelligence.

Mia, a resident of Sunamganj district in Bangladesh, was arrested from a jungle area near the border by troops from the 193 Battalion BSF and local police. During initial questioning, Mia reportedly admitted to facilitating the illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals into India and participating in cross-border smuggling activities.

Following his arrest, Mia was handed over to Dangar police station for further investigation and legal proceedings. The authorities are continuing to probe his activities to uncover more details about the human trafficking network and other illegal operations along the border.
