BSF Troops in Meghalaya Foil Cattle Smuggling Attempt at Indo-Bangladesh Border

Northeast Desk, 2nd September: On September 1, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted a significant cattle smuggling attempt along the international border in Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills district. Acting on specific intelligence, the 4th Battalion of the BSF intercepted and rescued 23 cattle that were being smuggled into Bangladesh.

The operation was part of ongoing efforts by the BSF to curb illegal cattle smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Following the interception, an investigation was launched to trace the origins of the smuggling attempt and to prevent further illegal activities in the region.

This incident is not isolated. In a similar operation on August 15, BSF troops foiled another cattle smuggling attempt in the same district, rescuing 13 cattle hidden in a jungle area. These cattle were also intended for smuggling across the border into Bangladesh.

The BSF’s continued vigilance along the border highlights its commitment to preventing illegal activities and ensuring security in the region.
