Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Delivers on Job Promise with Over 23,000 New Teacher Appointments

Northeast Desk, 2nd September: In a significant step towards fulfilling the Assam government’s employment promises, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed 23,956 appointment letters to contractual and State pool teachers on September 2. The move, celebrated as a major milestone, was announced by CM Sarma on the microblogging platform X, where he emphasized the success of his administration in surpassing its initial job creation goals.

Reflecting on the government’s journey since assuming office in 2021, Sarma recalled that the Assam government had originally pledged to create 1 lakh government jobs. With the latest round of appointments, the total number of jobs provided now stands at 1,24,345, exceeding the original commitment by a significant margin. This achievement, Sarma noted, directly addresses a long-standing demand from the teaching community in Assam, providing them with much-needed job security.

Looking towards the future, the Chief Minister committed to the creation of an additional 50,000 jobs by May 2025, which would bring the total number of jobs generated under his administration to 2 lakhs. He highlighted that all these employment opportunities have been delivered without any instances of corruption, underscoring the transparency and integrity that have characterized the government’s recruitment process.
