Sikkim: SDF President Pawan Chamling Dissolves Key Party Committees for Restructuring

Northeast Desk, 2nd September: In a significant organizational shake-up, Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) Party President Pawan Chamling has announced the dissolution of nearly all party committees during a Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting held at SDF Bhawan on September 2, 2024. The decision impacts major committees, including the Central Working Committee, Central Executive Committee, District Working Committees, Constituency Level Executive Committees, Ward Level Committees, and all Frontal Organizations.

Chamling, exercising his authority under the party’s constitution, stated that the restructuring is intended to realign the party’s focus and energy. He emphasized that the move was made in the “larger interest of the party” and assured members that new committees would be formed soon, with fresh leadership appointed at various levels.

The only committees that have been retained include Administrative & Legal Affairs, Social Media Affairs, Publicity Affairs, and the Election Committee. Chamling’s decision is seen as a strategic effort to rejuvenate the party’s organizational structure ahead of future political challenges.
