Arunachal: Leparada Police Nab Three in Drug Bust; Seize Heroin and Cannabis
Northeast Desk, 3rd September: In a significant operation, the Leparada police apprehended three individuals on September 1 and seized illegal substances from their possession in Basar’s market area. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 2.455 grams of suspected heroin and 10.505 grams of cannabis (ganja).
The arrested individuals have been identified as Toni Bam (30) from New Bam village, Kenngam Nyodu (25) from Nyodu village, and Joge Bam (27) from Old Bam village. Acting on a tip-off about their involvement in drug distribution, a patrolling team, under the leadership of Basar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Bisor Boje and DSP (HQ) Denim Boje, intercepted the suspects.
The operation was conducted with the oversight of an executive magistrate and independent witnesses. During the search, the police discovered three tobacco boxes containing the illegal substances.
The suspects have been charged under Sections 21(a) and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985, and are currently in judicial custody. Authorities have launched an in-depth investigation to determine if the suspects are part of a larger drug trafficking network.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the Leparada police to combat the drug menace in the region.
