Arunachal Pradesh Police Arrest Two Women in Tirap District for Heroin Possession

Northeast Desk, 4th September: In a significant drug bust, the Arunachal Pradesh police arrested two women in Tirap district after recovering suspected heroin worth approximately Rs 2.8 lakh. The arrests took place on Monday following a raid at the accused women’s residence in Khonsa, conducted by a joint team of state police and the 36th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Tirap Superintendent of Police, Singjatla Singpho, confirmed the seizure of 28.9 grams of suspected heroin. The accused, both hailing from Lazu village, have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and an investigation has been launched.

This operation follows another recent seizure in Arunachal Pradesh on August 31, where the police confiscated 177 grams of suspected heroin and arrested a 29-year-old man, Nayandeep Deka Baruah, from Assam’s Sivasagar district. The police, as part of their ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, also made multiple arrests and seizures in Bordumsa and Miao under the NDPS Act.

These actions reflect the state’s continued efforts to combat the drug menace in the region.
