Assam: Dhubri Police Detain Alleged Money Lender Amid Complaints and Threats

Guwahati, September 6, 2024 — The Dhubri Police have taken Mrinal Kanti Ghosh into custody following a complaint from a victim at the Dhubri Sadar Police Station. The complaint alleges that Ghosh, a suspected long-term money lender, failed to return crucial documents, including an ATM card, after the victim had repaid all borrowed funds. The victim also accuses Ghosh of issuing threats and displaying aggressive behavior, exploiting the victim’s official position.

Ghosh’s detention comes amidst broader allegations involving multiple money-lending cases. The Dhubri Sadar Police are conducting a thorough investigation to uncover additional details. Reports indicate that Ghosh claimed to hold a money-lending license, though he has yet to present any verifiable documentation to the authorities.
