Northeast Desk, 7th September: Former Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has praised the current state of education in the region, highlighting significant reforms and progress made under the leadership of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma. According to Rymbui, over Rs 500 crore has been sanctioned by the government for the development of the educational sector.

He emphasized that despite numerous challenges, the government is addressing core issues within the system.
Rymbui pointed out that several government lower primary (LP) schools, along with secondary and higher secondary institutions, have benefited from new infrastructure. He highlighted improvements in educational facilities, including the renovation of Captain Williamson Memorial College in Baghmara, as a direct result of the government’s interventions.
The former minister also praised the establishment of the Meghalaya Education Commission, which he believes will play a crucial role in addressing teachers’ grievances and shaping the future of education in the state.
