Assam Government Partners with Dassault Aviation to Boost Aerospace Skills and Job Opportunities

Northeast Desk, 14th September: In a landmark move aimed at enhancing skill development and job creation, the Assam government has partnered with Dassault Aviation to develop trained manpower in the aerospace sector. The collaboration will benefit 300 engineering graduates specializing in robotics, aerospace, defence, artificial intelligence (AI), and related fields.

Under this initiative, Dassault Systems India Pvt. Ltd. will invest Rs 200 crore, with the Assam government contributing Rs 40 crore. A state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence will be established at Assam Engineering College, focusing on providing specialized training in aerospace technologies.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while announcing the initiative, emphasized its importance in equipping students and professionals with the skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving aerospace industry. Dassault Aviation, a global leader in aerospace, will play a crucial role by offering its expertise and resources to support the training process.

This partnership is seen as a significant step in boosting the aerospace sector in Assam and contributing to the overall development of the region.

In other decisions, the Assam cabinet has approved an amendment to the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the withdrawal of petty and minor cases in subordinate courts. This move is aimed at allowing more time for serious offences and decongesting jails by releasing undertrial prisoners. The amendment will facilitate the withdrawal of 81,000 petty cases by March 2024, according to Chief Minister Sarma.
