Arunachal Pradesh Train Collision Claims Life of 52-Year-Old Man, Injures Grandchild

Northeast Desk, 14th September: In a tragic incident, a 52-year-old man was killed and his seven-year-old grandchild injured after their vehicle was struck by a train in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Siang district. The accident occurred on Friday afternoon near Pale, close to Dimow.

The deceased, identified as Rigo Riba, a sub-inspector with the Indian Reserve Battalion, was travelling from Pasighat in East Siang district to his native village when the collision happened around 3:50 pm. The vehicle was hit by the Murkongselek-Tezpur special train, which dragged the car for approximately 1 km, according to GRP Assistant Sub-Inspector Ganesh Hazarika.

Riba was pronounced dead at the scene, while his grandchild, who survived the crash, was rushed to Dibrugarh in Assam for urgent medical treatment. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
