Guwahati, 16th September: Assamese actor Sumi Borah, her husband Tarkik Borah, and her brother Amlan Borah were admitted to Assam Medical College around 1:20 pm after reportedly falling ill while in police custody. Medical personnel treated the trio late into the night, and following various tests and treatment, they were returned to police custody in the middle of the night.
The trio has been under police custody for four consecutive days as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged multi-crore online trading fraud. Sumi and Tarkik Borah were arrested by Assam police from Jorhat in connection with the case, which has caused significant financial losses.
The authorities have not yet disclosed the total sum involved in the scam but have assured that a thorough investigation is being conducted to uncover the full scale of the fraudulent activities and any other individuals involved.
