Assam: Woman Brutally Attacked on Chifung Express, Critical
A chilling incident of violence unfolded on the Chifung Express train on Tuesday, September 17, when 28-year-old Pooja Das was brutally attacked by unidentified assailants while traveling from West Bengal to Assam’s Bongaigaon district.
Pooja, daughter of Biswadev Das from Pundibari in Alipurduar, West Bengal, was on her way to her workplace at the Manikpur Gramin Vikash Bank in Bongaigaon district when the assault occurred. As the train was in motion, the attackers targeted Pooja, leaving her with severe injuries.
In a desperate bid to escape, Pooja managed to hide in the train’s toilet, but not before sustaining critical injuries. Her ordeal ended when witnesses at Bijni railway station in Chirang district noticed her condition and rushed to her aid, helping her off the train.
Pooja was initially taken to the Bijni Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital in Bhetagaon for treatment but was later transferred to a private hospital in Bongaigaon for advanced medical care due to the severity of her injuries.
The authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits responsible for this heinous attack. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about passenger safety on trains.
