Arunachal Pradesh Governor Discusses Sports Development with Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya

Northeast Desk, 18th September: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (retd) KT Parnaik on September 18 met with Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi to discuss the advancement of sports and participation in national and international competitions.

During the meeting, the Governor and the Minister deliberated on several key issues, including enhancing sports promotion, capacity building, and financial assistance for athletes. The discussion also covered strategies to improve infrastructure and support systems for achieving excellence in sports.

Governor Parnaik highlighted the accomplishments of notable Arunachali athletes such as cricketer Techi Doria, weightlifter Yuker Sebi, badminton player Laa Talar, Taekwondo martial artist Miss Rupa Beyor, and Everest climber Miss Kabak Yano. He underscored the need for increased efforts to identify and nurture young talent across the state, emphasizing that while Arunachali youth have significant potential, they require proper guidance and opportunities.

A proponent of sports medicine, the Governor advocated for advancements in biomechanics, sports sciences, psychology, and recovery techniques to help athletes meet global standards. He also stressed the importance of modern infrastructure and equipment in fostering sports excellence.

Minister Mandaviya expressed support for the Governor’s proposals, including financial assistance for a cricket stadium and support for young athletes like Kabak Yano. He acknowledged the necessity of sports medicine professionals and coaches for effective talent scouting and training.

The Minister assured the Governor of increased administrative and infrastructural support to nurture the sporting potential of Arunachal Pradesh’s youth and elevate the state’s sports capabilities.
