Tripura Police Seize Brown Sugar Worth Rs 8 Lakh, One Arrested
Northeast Desk, 19th September: Tripura Police have made a significant drug seizure in Agartala’s Barjala area, confiscating brown sugar valued at approximately Rs 8 lakh late Wednesday night. One individual has been arrested in connection with the case.
Sadar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Debaprasad Roy, speaking on September 19, revealed that the seizure occurred following a tip-off. Officers from the West Agartala Police Station and Ramnagar Outpost, acting on information about drug trafficking, conducted a raid at the Tripura Road Transportation Corporation (TRTC) office in Barjala. The police, in plain clothes, detained the suspect and, after a thorough search, discovered nine pouches containing 100 grams of brown sugar.
The detained individual has been identified as Rajib Datta, a resident of Kamalasagar in Sepahijala district. SDPO Roy confirmed that the accused will be presented in court, where the police will seek remand for further investigation into the case.
