Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Takes Oath as Ex-Officio Member of Margherita Municipal Board

Guwahati, 19th September: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, took oath as an ex-officio member of the Margherita Municipal Board. Sonowal, who is also the Member of Parliament for Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency, expressed his pride in the moment and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in driving the nation’s economic growth.

During his address, Sonowal highlighted the progress India has made under PM Modi, remarking that the country is on the path to becoming a global leader, or “Biswaguru,” with many development initiatives underway. He added that India is on track to becoming the fifth-largest economy in the world in the near future.

The ceremony, held at the Margherita Municipal Board conference hall, was attended by Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma, Municipal Board Chairman Anand Kumar Sharma, ward commissioners, BJP members from the Sadar block and town mandals, and hundreds of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members.

Later in the day, Sonowal participated in a cleanliness drive at Margherita Chariali and planted saplings as part of his commitment to environmental initiatives.

This is not Sonowal’s first such appointment, as he was also sworn in as an ex-officio member of the Digboi and Makum municipalities earlier in July.
