Man Critically Injured in Bear Attack in Tripura, Family Appeals for Support

Northeast Desk, 23th September: A 34-year-old man, Pramit Kumar Reang, from Tushaidian in Kanchanpur sub-division, is in critical condition at Dharmanagar District Hospital after being attacked by a bear on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM while Pramit was cultivating his jhum field and searching for bamboo shoots.

Family members reported that the bear attacked him suddenly, inflicting severe injuries, particularly to his face. His agonizing screams alerted his family, who quickly transported him to Kanchanpur Health Center. Due to inadequate treatment facilities there, he was later transferred to Dharmanagar District Hospital.

Parimal Reang, Pramit’s brother, shared the family’s distress, noting that Pramit is the sole breadwinner for his wife and three children, relying entirely on jhum cultivation for their livelihood. The attack has devastated the family both emotionally and financially.

Doctors at Dharmanagar District Hospital are providing intensive care to stabilize Pramit’s condition, and the family is hopeful for his swift recovery.
