Assam: Cachar Police and BSF Seize 10,000 Yaba Tablets in Major Border Operation

Guwahati, September 23: In a significant crackdown, Cachar Police, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), seized 10,000 Yaba tablets along the India-Bangladesh border. The tablets were cleverly concealed in 50 blue packets to evade detection.

The operation occurred within the jurisdiction of Katigorah police station, an area notorious for cross-border smuggling. Yaba, a potent methamphetamine-based drug, is increasingly trafficked through this region, often originating from Myanmar before entering India via Bangladesh.

This joint operation underscores the commitment of Cachar Police and BSF to combat the growing drug trade, which poses serious challenges due to the porous nature of the border. Authorities are intensifying efforts to address the escalating drug menace in Assam, which has emerged as a crucial transit hub for narcotics smuggling between Southeast Asia and India.
