Assam: Several injured after Passenger bus collided with potato-laden truck on NH-17

Guwahati, September 23: Several passengers were seriously injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a potato-laden truck on NH-17 on September 23.

The incident involved a high-speed Yatra bus, registered AS 17C 9000, traveling from Guwahati to Dhubri, which struck the rear of a stationary truck loaded with potatoes. Eyewitnesses reported a severe impact, resulting in significant damage to the bus and injuries to multiple passengers.

Despite immediate alerts to the Atani police station, police response was delayed, with officers arriving nearly an hour later. The injured were subsequently transported to Bagribari MG Model Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

In a concerning development, the bus driver and his assistant fled the scene into the nearby hills, prompting authorities to initiate a search operation to locate them. An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
